Day 8: Maritime Navigation.
We spent the morning getting classes on maritime navigation and used up a lot of time setting up the compasses on the CRRCs.
We found points in the bay in the day time and night.
Day 9: First time in the open ocean.
This was our first time in the ocean and all we had to do was some maritime nav. out the for day and night.
I literally had the longest point, holding my heading for 30 min against the waves… probably the most painful ride yet for my boat team.
Day 10: Launch and Recovery Operations off an LCU.
This was probably the most nerve racking thing I’ve done in my life. One of my team members wasn’t paying attention and smashed our engine on the LCU ramp.
Ended up paddling for an hour against the current until we got a short-tow going.
We definitely payed for that engine…
